Hum along.

He was a shooting star
and she a constellation
he just passing through
she, the tapestry
the galaxy
he didn't mean to stick around
he'd been here a million times and more
but
he
could not keep falling
when he fell through her
down from heaven to the earth
he stayed rooted there and quivered
and she, though she did not look it
being so vastly grand, so magnificent
sat quivering too
they didn't know what to do.
Afraid to move
afraid to sit still
gravity did the work
that they couldn't
lost in indecision
and in each others' wells
they sank
they coalesced
until one became the other
she fell gingerly from the sky
leaving him in her place.
They took each other with them
everywhere that they went.
Two celestial bodies
the same old love song.
Hum along.
